ABOUT
LINEAGE IS A COLLABORATIVE EXHIBITION BETWEEN GOOD SHIT STUDIO & CONFIT DESIGN AND WAS EXHIBITED DURING THE DESIGNTO FESTIVAL 2026
Lineage is a collaborative exhibition unveiling a sculptural lighting collection inspired by nostalgia and re-imagined for contemporary living. Drawing from the rhythmic geometry of traditional drying racks, each piece transforms familiar functional forms into expressive, architectural statements.
At the core of the collection is the idea of trans-functional objects—designs that reinterpret inherited uses and give them renewed relevance. Here, form leads function, inviting new ways of seeing and interacting with everyday structures.
The exhibition explores the duality of design, blurring boundaries between utility and artistry, memory and modernity. Each fixture evokes a sense of familiarity while introducing unexpected material and spatial relationships, turning historical references into luminous sculptural objects.
Crafted from Walnut, Anodized Aluminum and Baltic Birch the collection highlights how materiality shapes our expectations of function. While rooted in traditional forms, the pieces are produced using contemporary fabrication techniques—including digital modeling, CNC machining, 3D printing, and laser cutting—further bridging past and present. Lineage asks: How can objects shape space, act as sculptural centerpieces, and spark dialogue about the evolving function of utilitarian forms across generations? Lineage responds: By encouraging movement—inviting visitors to adjust the lights and discover their evolving form, function, and presence. Move the lights as you would a drying rack—shift the parts, explore the form, and discover how function transforms into sculpture.
